The task
Give a bright room with white walls and a light floor one strong feature: a dark wood slat wall that does not stop where the wall meets the ceiling.
What we built
The slats run floor to ceiling on one wall, then turn the corner and continue across part of the ceiling, ending in a clean straight edge. From the doorway it reads as a dark canopy over that side of the room rather than a flat panel on a wall.
The hard part of a wrap like this is the transition. The slats on the wall and on the ceiling have to line up exactly at the corner, otherwise the rhythm breaks right where the eye lands. Our crew laid out the spacing so each wall slat meets a ceiling slat, then set the ceiling run from the corner outward.
Thin brass-tone lines are inset between some of the slats. During installation they were dry-fitted and adjusted before being fixed; in the finished photos they show as fine vertical accents that catch the light from the ceiling cans without competing with the wood.

Timeline and budget
Done in 2 working days in April 2026. Project budget: about $3,100, in the middle of our $2,000–5,500 range for accent walls. Running the slats onto the ceiling adds layout and overhead work compared with a wall-only install.
