A small town on the Butler Chain
Windermere is a real incorporated town, not just a mailing address. It was chartered in 1925 on a narrow strip of land between Lake Down and Lake Butler, part of the Butler Chain of Lakes, which the state has designated an Outstanding Florida Water. The town itself is small: about 3,000 residents at the 2020 census. Inside the old grid near Town Hall, most streets are still dirt roads.
What many people mean by “Windermere,” though, is a wider area. Isleworth, for example, voted to stay unincorporated, while Butler Bay was annexed into the town. Keene’s Pointe and Lake Butler Sound are guard-gated communities in the same lake country. We serve all of them the same way, with no trip fee and a price range the same day from a photo.
Custom homes and big rooms
The best-known communities around the Butler Chain are built on the lakes or around golf courses: Isleworth around a course designed by Arnold Palmer, Keene’s Pointe around a Jack Nicklaus club. Large custom homes are the norm there, and that changes the brief. A homeowner here is rarely trying to make a plain wall interesting; more often they want a TV, a fireplace and storage worked into a room that already has tall ceilings, detailed millwork and a view they don’t want to block.
So we start with what is already in the house. We look at the trim, the stain or paint, the cabinetry in the kitchen and the scale of the windows. A media wall in a room like that has to look as if it came with the house: stained or painted panels that match the existing woodwork, slab or stone-look surfaces sized to the ceiling, and lighting that is controlled with the rest of the room. Wiring for a hardwired fireplace or integrated lights is done by a licensed Florida electrician.
Gates, management companies and timing
Most of our visits in the area start at a gatehouse. Communities often want contractors registered ahead of time, and some management companies ask for insurance paperwork before work begins. We handle that early so installation day isn’t held up at the gate.
Downtown Windermere is the opposite: no gate, unpaved streets and sandy driveways. There we bring extra floor protection and plan where materials can be staged.
Our work in Windermere
In April 2026 we built a wood slat accent wall with brass-tone lines in Windermere for about $3,100. Slat walls are one of the more affordable ways to give a large room a finished focal point; our accent walls generally fall between $2,000 and $5,500.
From downtown Orlando the trip usually takes about 25 minutes by the toll road, a little longer at rush hour.
