An unincorporated corner of Polk County
Loughman is not a city. It is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in the northeast corner of Polk County, close to the Osceola County line. It started as a small settlement after the South Florida Railroad came through in 1883, under the name Lake Locke, and it sat on the old Dixie Highway route. The 2020 census counted about 5,400 residents, and the area has grown quickly since 2000, mostly because Walt Disney World and Orlando are so close.
Today Loughman is a crossroads more than a town. US 17/92 meets Poinciana Parkway and Ronald Reagan Parkway (County Road 54) here, and subdivisions spread out from those roads. Many addresses carry a Davenport mailing name, so people often don’t realize they live in Loughman at all.
Full-time families and rental homes on the same street
What makes Loughman different from the resort strips closer to I-4 is the mix. Some communities, such as Solterra Resort, are marketed as vacation-rental resorts. Elsewhere, ordinary subdivisions hold families who live here year-round, and an owner who rents by the week can sit right next door to one of them.
The requests we get follow that split. Rental owners want a strong wall in the main room that reads well in listing photos. Full-time owners more often want to add some character to a builder-grade house: the drywall is flat and the trim is minimal, and nobody wants to live in a box forever.
Modest projects that change a plain room
For the second group, the first project is usually not a big media wall. Picture-frame molding along a dining room or hallway, wainscoting with a chair rail, or a slat pattern behind the bed gives a newer house the kind of detail it never came with, and it stays within a normal household budget. Our accent walls usually run $2,000–5,500.
That is exactly the work we have done here. In April 2026 we installed picture-frame molding and wainscoting in a Loughman home for about $2,400, and in June 2026 we built a geometric slat accent wall in a bedroom for about $3,500.
On a newer house, the job is mostly about layout. We measure the wall, mark the studs, plan the frame spacing around outlets, switches and windows so nothing is cut in an awkward place, and then caulk and paint so the molding looks like it was always there. If you want a light or an outlet moved, a licensed Florida electrician handles that part.
Loughman is about forty minutes from downtown Orlando by car. There is no trip fee, and a photo of your wall gets you a price range the same day.
