Media Wall with Built-In Shelving and a Tray Ceiling Detail in Sarasota, FL

The task

A large, bright living room with a tall ceiling and walls of glass needed one wall to hold the TV and fireplace, display shelving on both sides, and a ceiling detail above that belongs to the same design.

What we built

The wall is laid out in five vertical bays. In the center, a marble-look panel carries the TV, with a linear electric fireplace in a dark base below it. On either side of the center, wood slat panels add texture and a warm, darker tone against the white walls. The two outer bays are built-in open shelving in dark wood, sized for books and decor rather than equipment.

An LED accent line along the top of the media wall lights the slats and the marble-look panel from above in the evening. The fireplace and lighting were wired by a licensed Florida electrician.

Above the seating area, the ceiling got its own detail: a stepped tray with wood trim framing the recess and the chandelier at its center. Tying the ceiling to the wall with the same wood tone is what makes the whole room read as designed rather than decorated.

The homeowners left a review about this wall, mentioning the wood slats, the PVC marble-like panel and the lighting — you can read it below.
